THE DESCENT

This is already the 39th Edition of the International Descent of the Cares,
a great competition of first rate that will concentrate,
one more year, to the best canoeists of the World.

The International Descent of the Cares between the asturian localities ( Spain )
of Mier and Panes. The route from Mier to Panes has an approximated length
of 11 kilometers , with a high level of difficulty. This river is recommended
for people who have previously experienced the descent in canoe.

The descent of the Cares river allows to enjoy a brave water passage
with a spectacular beauty. The beginnings have several fast sections.
In the middle of the route the expresses are made a little more difficult
and the last two kilometres already are practically calm waters.

The best canoeists of international level, among them the seven times
champion of the World, Manuel Busto, will participate the next August, 12th
in this descent that counts on a long passage in the Cares river
and that allows to enjoy numerous sections of great beauty.

The modalities in which it will be possible to participate will be those of
K-1 and C- 1. In the morning the younger will dispute the competition between
the villages of Mier and Mier ( 1.600 metres Aleve and Benjamin categories, and 2.800 meters Infantile). Later, cadets, senior, junior and veterans will face
the approximately 10,000 meters that separate the populations of Mier and
Panes in the afternoon. Respect to the awards, this edition counts on
important economic dowries, as much for the categories masculine as feminine.

In addition to the sport test, the International Descent of the Cares also becomes
a great popular celebration that is developed in the locality of Panes,
one of the populations by where the Cares river flows.

A great event to put the end to the International Week of Canoeing of Asturias.
